5 Ways to Foster Stability During Uncertain Times

We all experience differently. How we handle stress and pressure is dependent on many different factors. We all have different responses, whether it's fear, anger, sadness, or withdrawal. And, since we all require different approaches, there is never a one-size-fits-all approach to creating stability when we feel we're on a hamster wheel and can't get off.

However, there are some general things that can help people to stay calm during times of uncertainty. I've outlined a list of tangible tools that have worked in my own life when things begin to feel out of control.

Self-Care

Self-care is one of the quickest stress relievers, and it's an easy way to shift my energy. A bath or a long shower is an excellent way to release stress and relax. Immersing yourself in nature is another great way to reconnect with the universe. Whatever you find to be the most relaxing for you, seek that.

Gratitude

Expressing gratitude can help calm you down by making you feel more positive and appreciated. When you feel grateful, letting go of negative thoughts and emotions can be easier. Gratitude can also help you feel more connected to others and motivated to act in positive ways.

Music

Music has a way of calming the mind and soul. It can be a form of escapism from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I can forget about my troubles and relax when I listen to music. It's like a form of meditation. The right music can help me focus and be in the moment. It can also be a form of self-care. When I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed, listening to music can help me feel more calm and more grounded.

Spending Time with Loved Ones

There is something to be said about spending time with the people you care about, which can instantly lift your mood. It allows you to decompress and step away from the things causing uncertainty in your life. Spending time with loved ones can help you stay calm because you feel supported and loved. You can relax and feel safe when you're with people who care about you. This can help you to de-stress and feel more positive.

Write a Trigger List

A trigger list is a list of things that can trigger a negative emotion or reaction in a person. This could be a list of people, places, things, or situations that make the person feel anxious, stressed, angry, or otherwise harmful. Creating a trigger list is to help the person avoid or cope with these triggers to improve their overall well-being.

While staying calm in times of uncertainty can feel unattainable, it's essential to see calm during a time of uncertainty because it can help you feel more in control and less anxious. When everything around you is in chaos, it can be reassuring to see someone who seems to have everything together. It can also help you remember that not everything is out of control and that there is still some order in the world. We are not in control, and when we understand the universe is, it helps us to gain strength and see clarity.
